The worst decline in smartphone sales to date due to covid 19

The last few years have been tough for the smartphone industry as sales of devices continue to decline.

But no company was ready for 2020 in which an epidemic has shaken the smartphone market, in fact this year was declared the year of improvement again due to 5G and foldable phones.

But the statistics that are coming out now are shocking.

The smartphone market suffered its biggest downturn in the second quarter of this year as a result of the Novel Corona virus epidemic.

According to data released by smartphone market researcher Gartner, smartphone sales fell by 20.4% during April-June compared to the same period last year.

Gartner reported in another report in May that smartphone sales fell 20.2 percent from January to March compared to the same period last year.

According to a new report, people around the world have lost interest in smartphones due to the lockdown and economic slowdown as a result of Code 19.

Most people have lost income or are forced to work from home, so they have removed mobile devices from their list of priorities.

The biggest shock in the second quarter of this year came from Samsung, which saw its phone sales fall 27.1 percent from the same period last year.

Gartner said sales of Samsung's flagship S-series smartphones have improved globally, but the quarter has been disappointing for the South Korean company.

In fact, as a result of such a sharp decline in Samsung's phones, it ranks first with Huawei in the list of companies selling smartphones in the world.

Samsung Devices had a market share of 18.6% while Huawei had 18.4%.

Sales of Huawei's phones fell 6.8 percent from April to June, a better performance as the Chinese company's market share rose to 18.4 percent in the second quarter from 14.2 percent in the first quarter.

Apple ranks third among the top companies, with sales of iPhones down just 0.4 percent during the quarter compared to the same period last year.

Between April and June, smartphone sales in China fell 7% year-on-year to 46% in India.

Xiaomi was fourth with 8.9% share, down 21.5% in the second quarter, although Xiaomi was the only company to have seen its phone sales improve 1.4% in the first quarter of this year.

Oppo lost 15.9% in the second quarter, but with 8% market share, it is among the top 5 companies.

Gartner said in its May report that global sales of desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones are expected to decline by 13.6% by 2020.

According to Gartner's forecast, 1.9 billion devices are expected to be sold this year.

The company also predicted a 14.6% drop in mobile phone sales.

According to the report, "although there has been an increase in consumer contact with office mates, friends and family during the lockdown, fewer people will prefer to buy new phones as a result of declining income."
